Subaccounts separate the funds, orders, and liquidity positions used by different strategies. You might keep a market-making balance separate from funds used for discretionary trading.

Separate balances, shared control

An order uses the balance of the account it belongs to. It cannot automatically draw on funds in another subaccount or in the main account. All subaccounts share the same owner and trading permissions. Giving a bot trading access lets it trade across the entire account family, including subaccounts created later. A subaccount separates balances; it does not restrict a bot to one strategy.

Funding a subaccount

Deposit into your main account first, then transfer available funds into the subaccount. To withdraw subaccount funds to a wallet, transfer them back to the main account first. Internal transfers move available balances. They do not move orders or liquidity positions. Release committed funds before transferring them.

Creating subaccounts

The owner, an administrator, or an authorized trading signer can create a subaccount. There is no new wallet to fund or private key to manage. Names such as “Market making” are labels supplied by your application. Developers can follow Creating Subaccounts for account IDs, creation calls, and balance transfers.
